Piedmont Rape Crisis Center Services
The Piedmont Rape Crisis Center is the sole resource of all sexual violence related matters for adults (ages 18+) in Barrow, Banks, and Jackson Counties.
The staff and volunteers of PRCC respect the uniqueness of each survivor’s experience and path to healing. Consequently, we work from a holistic approach model to empower each survivor to discover the ongoing areas in which s/he needs help.
We also realize that the effects of sexual assault are long lasting and ongoing. In fact, many of the survivors we work with come to us years after the date of the assault.
In addition to providing client assistance, PRCC staff and volunteers provide a number of services including:
Crisis Hotline Trained Volunteer Advocates and staff provide support and crisis intervention by phone or in person. All calls and meetings are free and confidential. The hotline will be staffed at 770-586-5423 by May 1, 2009.
Medical Accompaniment Volunteers and staff accompany victims of sexual assault during forensic medical exams.
Medical Exams Through our SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) programs, nurses trained specifically for sexual assault examinations are available through the Piedmont Rape Crisis Center.
Legal Advocacy Staff may act as a liaison for survivors during the judicial process.
Family Support for family members and/or significant others who accompany a survivor to the Center after a report receive emotional support (short-term) and information.
Counseling Assistance Staff coordinates referrals to professionals for appropriate individual, family and group counseling.
Community Education & Outreach Staff and volunteers provide information and education on sexual assault to the community, victims, and families. If you are interested in having PRCC speak at your community organization, please contact us at susan@piedmontrapecrisis.org.
