PRCC Volunteer Opportunities
The Piedmont Rape Crisis Center is grateful to our volunteers, who allow us to maintain our 24-hour crisis services for survivors of sexual assault, their family, and friends.
Volunteers enable the PRCCr to be available for sexual assault survivors, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As a volunteer, you would be responsible for staffing our 24-hour crisis hotline and serving as an advocate at area hospitals, in police stations, and in court.
Volunteering at PRCC is a great way to develop and improve counseling skills, learn about the issue of sexual assault, and help our community heal from the pain of sexual abuse and rape. Volunteering also provides you with an opportunity to become an active part of the movement to end sexual violence. Volunteers become part of a close-knit community. Volunteering is extremely personally rewarding and it allows you to gain valuable experience and community ties. It can even strengthen your resume!
The PRCC offers a variety of volunteer experiences, so you can choose what best fits your personal strengths and interests. There are both direct service and non-direct service opportunities continuously available.
Victim Assistance: Individuals interested in becoming this type of volunteer must undergo 25 hours of initial training, submit to a criminal background check, and provide letters of recommendation.
Prevention: These volunteers must also complete the initial 25 hours of training, submit to a criminal background check, and provide letters of recommendation. In addition, prevention volunteers must also undergo additional prevention education training.
In-Office: These volunteers assist in fundraising, special projects and mailings, and are trained to answer the Crisis Line as needed during regular business hours.
If you have an interest in volunteering, please contact Susan Cash at PRCC.
