Enjoy graphic design or photography? Are you part of a group that would like to host an event in support of PRCC? Please, send us your suggestions or inquiries at director@piedmontrapecrisis.org.
Crisis Advocate Volunteers
Crisis Advocates provide direct service by answering the crisis hotline and accompanying victims during medical examinations and interviews. To serve as a Crisis Advocate, volunteers must complete the 30 hour training course and commit to being on call one night a week. Because Crisis Advocates represent PRCC and provide direct support to victims in moments of crisis, Advocates are highly responsible individuals with good communication and listening skills. They understand that PRCC works to empower victims to make their own decisions regarding what is the best route to healing and, consequently, do not impose their own opinions or make provide directives.
Review the Crisis Advocate Volunteer Job Description for a more comprehensive view of the position. If interested, please contact our Program Coordinator, Susan Cash, with further questions at susan@piedmontrapecrisis.org.
Special Event Volunteers
Special Events Volunteers assist with one-time events as needed. Time commitments vary depending on the event and the volunteer’s availability. Some events take months to plan and are managed by committees, such as the PRCC signature fundraiser Ride to Survive, while others only last a day. If interested, we can place you on a call list and contact you as events come up for assistance. Please forward your contact information to Joy Strickland at director@piedmontrapecrisis.org and write ‘Special Events Volunteer Inquiry’ in the subject line. Potential volunteers will be asked to fill out an introductory application.
Outreach & Prevention Volunteers
The opportunity to train as an Outreach & Prevention volunteer will be coming soon (summer 2009). If you have an interest in speaking with community organizations and educating the public about PRCC services, we will be happy to contact you as the program develops if you forward your information to Joy Strickland at director@piedmontrapecrisis.org. Potential volunteers will be asked to fill out an introductory application
